May Shen, M.Ed., M.A., CALP
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I am a dyslexia specialist with over 15 years of literacy experience, working with both children and adults. My passion is to help people access life opportunities by improving language skills. It is so exciting when the pieces of that mysterious puzzle called reading starts to fit together, and a child goes from "I can't" to "I can!"
I use the Orton-Gillingham multisensory structured language approach with struggling readers, a proven method for developing language skills. I also help students to restore self confidence and parents to access available resources. Your child's success is of utmost importance to me.
My experience in literacy includes teaching in the Intensive English Program at Dallas Baptist University, working as a children's librarian, and teaching with Emerging FIELD, a Christian educational nonprofit in Dallas. I graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in History, and hold a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and M.A. in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Please reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to helping your child become a more confident, skilled reader!
