Lisa Darling has been working with children for 39 years, ever since she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education in 1986.
She has been an elementary classroom teacher in California and Wisconsin, an elementary reading intervention teacher in the Milwaukee area, and a traveling literacy coach for Pre-K through second grade classrooms in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. All of those experiences have been rewarding, but her true love is one-on-one work with struggling students. Lisa and her husband Wayne live in an old stone house in a suburb of Milwaukee, where they tend their flowers and a small woodland; complete fixer-upper tasks inside the house; and try to find more time for biking and kayaking. She has many interests, including attending church and Bible study, painting furniture, traveling, learning foreign languages, playing the flute, cooking everything from scratch, making yogurt, and making sourdough bread. Lisa has been with Lexercise since 2021 and is a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist certified by The Center for Effective Reading Instruction. |
